Checkered-Vans.com is the blog of one person, Linda. Some bands request that their music be posted on this site, but most are found be me searching myspace/last.fm/etc. for good free music. I post what I like, which is mostly pop-punk and a bit of hardcore.
History
The domain checkered-vans.com was purchased in November 2006 as a personal domain with the intent of hosting any web projects not related to my other website mahfans.com (the My American Heart fansite). One of these little projects was a website about Hayley Williams (More Hayley) which turned out to be hugely popular. Previous incarnations of this website have featured fangirly graphics, a large gallery of band promo shots and magazine scans, and other crap that has since been deleted because I don’t care about it. The current incarnation, a wordpress blog, began in September 2008. For the first few months, a feed of recent post was embedding in More Hayley, so I included lots of posts that these readers would click: news about Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Metro Station, and Hey Monday; more photoshoots and scans; and other crap that I don’t care about. Now I post virtually only free music. I hope that this website will develop a fanbase that does care about the sort of bands I post about. You can help by telling your friends!
Legal
All of the files on the mp3 and video download pages are hosted on band websites, record labels, music video directors, and other sites which I believe to be legitimate copyright holders. If this is not the case, please contact the hosting sites. I only link to file hosting websites such as mediafire and megaupload when the files have been uploaded by the band themselves. I bear no responsibility for the content of any files linked to from this site.
